failed attempt at "pouty lips"

Blansett: "Don't take the umbrellas out. Guys like it because they know it means you're drunk."

uh....okay.

yes, please?

Everyone knows how fond I am of talking about punching people (usually in the face) so you'll understand why I love this glass so much.

twins!

...no reaching for my wallet

I like Chris's expression.

dinner, july 25th

I met up with the twins and Blansett for dinner and drinks.

I haven't spoken w/ Ursula for 7 years, but I somehow got myself invited to brunch with her. She's visiting from Germany and the twins cooked us all brunch.

multiplied

The size of the band Blind Pilot seemed to multiply when they played their hometown of Portland. I think there were nine people on stage.

sweet ride

Spotted this outside of Powell's.
I want to know who actually rode this thing into downtown Portland.

i love you andina

Andina is a great Peruvian restaurant in the Pearl District of Portland. I insisted that we go there for lunch.

country road

The road leading up to the restaurant looked like this.

dinner, july 18th

After the boat ride we went out for a nice, yet casual dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday. I got the salmon.

greatness

This bridge is named The Bridge of the Gods. Hm.

the parents

I bet I was making a funny face in whatever picture my mom is taking.

columbia river gorge

My mom loves boats, so for her birthday we went on a river cruise down the gorge. It was windy (but not too cold) and it was very pretty. I'm not sure what everyone was watching- perhaps the kite surfers in the river below.

death cab

After hours of sitting in the hot, bright sun death cab took the stage. I am still not sure how I feel about the show. Ben Gibbard seems to have lost a ton of weight...and his glasses, and acquired a straight iron for his hair...and the makings of an expensive Italian suit. Tragic, emo, scrubby, hipster no more. I guess this is what happens when talented musicians get lucky and recognized? I'm happy for him?

waiting

At Edgefield in Troutdale waiting for the bands to start playing.

dinner, july 17th

It was really too hot to eat dinner. We had the best ice cream in the world though. Gina had marion berry and I had hazelnut. I have never eaten ice cream with that amount of urgency before.

dinner, july 16th

Burger, fries and a beer. This is Oregon food.

heading home

Apparently they let you drink on the Caltrain. I saw lots of men (and groups of men) drinking from beer cans and/or carrying cases of beer. We were the only ones drinking wine...that's because we're classy.

hello

this video is silly and pointless but that sounds about right for us...

cactus garden

Exploring Stanford we came upon a cactus garden. It seemed out of place, but I insisted we walk through it anyway.

favorites

Supermarket avocado sushi is one of my favorite things.

caltrain

Chris and I went on an adventure to Palo Alto by train. The train trip down was pure nostalgia- sitting on the upper deck, peering into backyards, spotting neat graffiti!

happy breakfast

Josh was extra kind to me this week. He woke me up with a phone call and told me to hurry up and come over because he was cooking me breakfast. Good stuff.

dinner, july 10th

FAIL at picture.

Backyard BBQ party. I wasn't around my camera.

dinner, july 9th

Leftovers - still good.

dinner, july 8th

Happy Pasta.
Pasta w/ sausage and a side salad. YUM.

dinner, july 7th

Soup-- noodles in broth.
The chicken actually ended up rubbery and tough and inedible. However, it flavored the broth very nicely and the broth complimented the noodles well.
maybe i do look sad and worried all the time.

inumu

Imunu are made from "found" branches. That is, they find interesting shaped branches that resemble figures human figures. NEAT.
I think this was my favorite thing in the museum. It's an imunu from New Guinea.
