Salmon teriyaki w/ rice and baby bok choy.

the n stop at church and duboce

Going our separate ways. We carried on a pretty extensive conversation while across the street from each other.

mojitos, mojitos!

Brieanne and I have been planning on getting mojitos for awhile now. We finally got them today. Saturday afternoons at the Orbit Room with good friends is one of my favorite things.

ready for food.

It's great how happy food can make us. I love this picture of Katherine.

dinner, january 30th

Macaroni and cheese.

I've been craving my mom's macaroni and cheese, so I decided to give the recipe a try. Unfortunately the store didn't have any "large" shells, so I had to go with a smaller shell than normal. I think it messed with the integrity of the dish. Meaghan also prepared a spinach salad with a very lemony dressing. Much to my surprise, the twins had never had homemade mac n cheese before, they seemed to love it. I'm still convinced I could do better. In a slightly inebriated state, we decided on monthly macaroni and cheese dinners, so hopefully I'll perfect the dish soon.

dinner, january 29th

A repeat. Chicken is never as good when you reheat it, oh well.

Clay and Grant

The bus was delayed on my way home from work. Instead of waiting, I decided to walk down the hill. This is what I saw at the corner to Clay and Grant. Yes, this is another post about how lucky I feel to be living here. People travel from all over to see S.F.'s Chinatown, and here I am passing by it on something as mundane as my daily commute.

dinner, january 28th

BBQ chicken w/ rice and a side salad.

So I decided to try recording my dinners every night. Maybe for a year?
What does a single girl in the city eat, anyhow? Well, let's see....

reflecting

it was a very modern looking rain forest.

the cousins

getting some much needed, long overdue cousin time.

watch out!

be careful, there's a cheetah in the tree above your head.

weird stuff

on the right is the jabba the hut of stone fish.

ooooh pretty

jellyfish??? or sea plant??? you decide...

hey, that's a really big fish

california academy of sciences. the museum was very crowded, but so much fun- i can't wait to go back!

i remember there being "really big bones" from the "old" museum, but for some reason i thought they were from dinosaurs. maybe that was a different museum, or maybe i've just seen "bringing up baby" too many times.

chocolate overload

this is kyle with a hot chocolate and a chocolate croissant that was bigger than his face.

spectacular views

derrick and his rooftop view

sparkles

i love the sparkles that appear in the sidewalk throughout much of downtown/soma/financial district.

what now?

after the show, waiting for the bus...

the (comedy) club

i know it's blurry, but that's what makes it so great

teenage spaceship

4/5 of the crew. derrick was nice enough to cook us some good curry, then we headed off to the club.

sprinkles

annie and i drove to stanford shopping center to get sprinkles cupcakes. there was a line...of course. i wasn't as impressed as i expected to be, but i'm willing to give them another try or two...

family pack!

these are my favorite packaged noodles. they can be hard to find and i've never seen them in a fancy family pack before. very exciting!

what's more of an adventure than an asian market in a small town?

we found the korean market in cotati. it was small, but i liked it and we got this tofu which was really good. apparently asian markets make me happy.

on the rocks...

wes likes to climb rocks, he's good at it...

"there are no bad words for the coast today..."

"we hold are breath until nothing's left
it all starts to fade..."

"i am finally seeing, why i was the one worth leaving."

"i am not permanent
and the only thing keeping me dry is
where i am"

down to the beach

you can't tell from this picture how incredibly steep this trail down to the beach was. it was not only steep, but full of loose gravel and rocks. i made it down and back...go me!

the sonoma coast

boo adventure day
january 2009

where the...????

heading towards jenner, i guess.

spotting cows...and sheep and goats and horses and things.

the rolling hills of the sonoma (or maybe marin) countryside. sometimes i get so wrapped up in city life that i forget stuff like this exists. it's nice to be reminded on occasion.

"let's head north"

this might not be the most beautifully composed photo, but this view never gets old no matter how you frame it. driving over the golden gate bridge is a bit scary, and it's hard to cough up that 6 dollar toll, but it's truly an impressive sight.

the adventure begins...

the family

christmas dinner-- i ate all the beef roast.

white christmas!

on christmas we got a snow shower in the afternoon. music from the nutcracker was playing on the stereo, i was sitting on a nice big comfy chair. now i know why people make such a big deal about "white christmases"--they are really nice.
